INFANT CARE

Long-lasting benefits

Our Mission is to enrich childrens lives through quality infant care by modeling positive and develop mentally appropriate practices.

Philosophy Our philosophy is based on the Piagetian principles and learning approach that children develop at their own rate and learn best by experiences. Our program is designed to encourage active exploration and freedom of choice in an richly equipped learning center environment. For preschool children we follow developmentallly appropriate practices and teacher initiated activites. For infants we follow the Resources for Infant Educarer (R.I.E.) program which support and respects each child’s growth and development.

How do we achieve these practices: story time daily, feed on demand, explore and discovery time, self esteem building, develop respect and support each child’s growth and development. Each child is encouraged to develop to his/her full potential.

TODDLERS

Long-lasting benefits

As our infants mature and develop into the stages of toddlers we offer many opportunities for growth. We support and foster these opportunities through their five senses. Hearing, tasting, smelling, seeing, and touching which are very powerful tools for toddlers. Therefore, our daily lesson plans supports theses very important senses by implementing many sensory activities, daily reading opportunities, manipulatives, coloring, painting and many other experiences that foster and develop a healthy growing child.

PRE KINDERGARTEN (2-3 years)

Foundation for education

Hands on experiences are very important to a 3 year old child. At this milestone language and communication is very important. Nu Building Blocks curriculum for 2-3 year olds focuses on the development in 5 major areas:

Language and literacy, a child develops: listening skills, recognizes that print is talk on paper, acquires verbal comprehension and association skills, interprets pictures, develops the ability to recall stories and experiences and learns about other cultures and broadens concepts and experience about life.

Literature plays a major role in a 3 year olds life. Literature is important through books. A child learns to listen to stories, increases attention span, develops the concept of print and the written word, begins to take responsibility for the care of books and enjoys quiet moments alone with is thoughts.

Social studies is important because through social studies activities, a child identifies his/her family members and the multiple relationships within the family, they learn about other people who live in the world with them, explores his/her neighborhood and community and the resources within them, develops a possible self-concept and an acceptance of others and participates in field trips within her neighborhood and wider community to learn about people, places, occupations, and resources.

Math is also important during this state. Math activities relates life experiences to math, develops number concepts, learns one-to-one correspondence, sorts classifies objects by size, shape, color and texture and children learn how to interpret the calendar and the clock.

Music and movement is very exciting for children at this age. Through music and movement activities a child becomes sensitive to beauty and harmony, validates creativity, individually and self-expression, practices listening skills, has an opportunity to release energy and express emotions and expresses herself freely through creative movement, playing musical instruments and singing.

Puppets captures and molds all of what the children have learned from language, literature, math, social studies and music together. Through puppets, a child builds self esteem, learn new ways to express feelings, uses creative thinking and imagination, and reveals thoughts and attitudes through conversation.
